Privacy Policy
Last updated October 30, 2026
JFT Prep helps you prepare for the JFT-Basic. This policy explains what data we collect, why we need it, who helps us process it, and the choices you have. We keep it short and plain.
What we collect
Account data: your email address, your name if you give it, and a securely hashed password. If you sign in with Google, we receive your basic Google profile (name, email address and picture) instead of a password.
Test results: when you are signed in, the results of the practice test, mock tests and section drills you take (your answers, the number correct per section, our estimated score and the date) are saved to your dashboard.
Learner profile: the answers you give when you set up your dashboard, such as the country where you plan to take the test, your planned test month or booked test date, and your current level. You can change or clear them at any time.
Booking alerts: if you ask for booking-day or study-plan emails, we store your email address, the country you chose, where on the site you signed up and whether you have unsubscribed. You don't need an account for this.
On this device only: an unfinished test and results you take while signed out are kept in your browser's local storage so you can resume or review them. They don't leave your device unless you sign in and save them to your account.
Technical data: standard server logs (IP address, browser, pages requested, errors) kept for security, abuse prevention and fixing problems.
How we use data
To run the service: create and secure your account, score your practice tests, show your progress, and tailor your dashboard and study plan to your country and test date.
To send the emails you asked for: account emails (such as verifying your address or resetting your password), payment receipts and, only if you signed up for them, booking alerts and study-plan emails. Every alert email has a one-click unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing stops them straight away.
To improve the service in aggregate, for example which sections learners find hardest. We do not sell your personal data, we don't share it for advertising, and we don't use third-party advertising trackers.
Payments
When you buy a plan, you pay on the hosted checkout of our payment partner, Dodo Payments or Creem, which acts as the merchant of record. Your card or wallet details go to them, never to us. We receive only what we need to give you access: your email address, the plan, the amount, and the payment and subscription references. The payment partner processes your data under its own privacy policy.
Who processes data for us
We use a small number of service providers, each only for its own task: our hosting provider and Cloudflare to serve the site securely; Resend to deliver our emails; OpenObserve to store server logs and service events (such as a sign-up or a completed payment) so we can find errors; Dodo Payments and Creem for payments; and Google, only if you choose to sign in with Google.
They process data on our instructions and may store it outside your country. We don't give them more than they need.
Retention and your rights
We keep your account data, results and learner profile while your account is active. If you delete your account, they are deleted. Booking-alert records are kept until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete them. Payment records are kept as long as tax and accounting law requires. Server logs are kept for a limited period and then deleted.
You can ask us to access, correct, export or delete your data at any time by emailing [email protected]. We respond within 30 days. Depending on where you live (for example the EU or UK under the GDPR, or countries with similar data-protection laws), you may have further rights, including the right to complain to your local data-protection authority.
Cookies and local storage
We use only essential cookies: a session cookie to keep you signed in and the security cookies that protect sign-in. Your browser's local storage keeps practice progress and small preferences such as light or dark mode. We don't set analytics or advertising cookies.
Children
JFT Prep is meant for adults preparing for work or study in Japan. Some test countries allow candidates from 17 or 18. If you are under the age of digital consent where you live, ask a parent or guardian before creating an account.
Changes and contact
If we change this policy, we update the date above, and we email account holders about material changes. Questions about privacy: [email protected].
