Pick your test date. The 45-day wait starts the day after your test.

The rule

How the 45-day wait is counted

The Japan Foundation and Prometric set the same rule. It is easy to be off by one day, which can cost you a seat.

  1. Day 1 is the day after your test

Your test day itself doesn't count. The 45 days start the next morning.

  2. Your next test must come after day 45

Prometric only lets you book a test date after the waiting period ends.

  3. Only for 199 or less

With 200 or more you have the A2 level and cannot sit the JFT-Basic again.

  4. Booking closes early

Bookings close 3 business days before a test (4 for a Saturday, Sunday or holiday test), so book as soon as your window opens.

Example: for a test on October 30, 2026, the 45 days run from October 31, 2026 to December 14, 2026. The earliest test date is December 15, 2026.

Use the wait

45 days is enough to move your score

Your official result shows the percentage you got right in each section. Start where you lost the most.

  1. Week 1: find the gap

Take a full mock test under real conditions and compare your section results with the official notification.

  2. Weeks 2–5: work the weakest section

Short daily drills beat long weekend sessions. Listening and reading improve fastest with timed practice.

  3. Last week: full timing

One more full mock, then rest. Check your ID and confirmation letter the day before.
